IAM watching movies SEPT 25

Every second Friday, take a break and drop in for a casual screening of a film from the Museum’s Robert A. Roth Study Center. Each short documentary provides insight into the work of a different artist from the IAM collection.

The Reverend Howard Finster used painting to transmit his religious visions. His paintings, or “sermons,” combine written text, such as biblical quotes and prophetic writing, with fantastical imagery. A self-proclaimed “man of visions,” Howard Finster worked tirelessly, joyfully and with unyielding faith in his mission to paint sacred art, producing at least 46,991 paintings, a body of work widely celebrated during his lifetime.
